Community Thoughts ~ A Community Poem
CREATING NEW PRODUCTS, DEVELOPING NEW MARKETS, GENERATING NEW
SOURCES OF REVENUE
From, Diallo "Daheart" Sumbry - The Adinkra Group
The older I become the more I realize
It's quite difficult to run from the voice of my ancestors
To mute their cries of joy and pain
When I participate in the growth and destruction of my surroundings
I - am a recovering runner...

From, Zuhairah - First World Theatre Ensemble
There are no small parts...
Just small dreams
The Theatre
is no place for small dreams!

From, LaTroi
I-Am a recovering runner
My head up with pride
as i walk up and down my city of CMD
My world of nothing but crime
I am recovering
because i won't dare let the this city suck me in this hell hole

From, Peggy - Walking In The Spirit
But TO what do I run?
a new “living” life?
or more of the same?
And who can I blame?
For MY part in this game?
Dare I submit,
will I survive again?
My choice is to try.
The alternative? to die.

3 key elements to
functional communities
:

(1) a sense of community -
feeling connected to and
responsible to members,
not based on physical
locality, but by common
thread, nationhood

(2)
an independent
economic system
that
works within the dominant
economic system - to move
vertically in one industry
from conception to
consumption

(3)
a political body that
advocates on the behalf of
the community
- not a
partisan issue; members of
the community who hold
political office should be
held accountable by the
community to advocate for
the community - if not
them, then who?
" We must never forget..."
